What we do

PixelCrayons provides eCommerce consulting: platform choice, technical and conversion audits, and a written plan, whoever builds it afterwards. A senior commerce consultant looks at your products, team and margins, or your store's analytics and code. They write down what to fix, what to build and in what order. You keep the document either way.

What eCommerce consulting
covers.

01

Help choosing a platform that fits your business

Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento or headless, chosen to fit your product range, team, margins and other systems. We don't start from a default answer. If two platforms are close, we say so and explain the trade-off you are choosing between.

One-off
02

A technical audit of the store you already run

We check speed, platform version, old code that needs fixing and your links to other systems. We look for what is slowing your team down or costing you orders. You keep the audit: each finding comes with a specific fix, not a generic checklist.

One-off
03

A conversion and checkout review

We find where your checkout and key pages lose orders, using session recordings and analytics where you have them. This is a check, not a redesign. It shows what is broken and roughly what a fix is worth. Then you can decide if ongoing conversion work is worth paying for.

One-off
04

A written plan, in order of priority

Each finding is ranked by what it costs you to leave alone, with a rough order of work. We also say honestly what needs a specialist and what your own team can fix. You keep this document whether or not you build with us next.

Every engagement
05

A second opinion before you sign elsewhere

Already have a proposal from another agency or platform supplier? We can check it against what you actually need before you spend the money. We flag work that looks padded or missing.

On request
How it starts

From first call to a written plan,
step by step.

01
Start

Brief and a call

We sign an NDA and agree what you need: help choosing a platform, an audit, a plan or a mix.

02
Once the brief is complete

Itemised proposal

We confirm the date your proposal arrives. It lists what you will get, in what order and for how much.

03
Your decision

You sign off

You confirm the scope, the payment and the access we need, such as read access to analytics and the store. Nothing starts before this.

04
Typically 2 to 3 business days later

The work starts

The consultant looks at your products, team and margins, or your store's analytics and code, as agreed.

05
On the date in your proposal

First deliverable

Written findings: what we found, what it costs you and what to do first. Then we talk you through the plan on a call.

Inside Prism

Your engagement, week to week,
in one workspace.

Prism is the client workspace where your requests, approvals, tasks and weekly reviews live.

Some engagements include Prism, our client workspace, and your proposal says whether yours does. Where it does, your build runs in a workspace you log into: requests, approvals, the task list and the weekly review, beside the repository your team already owns.

  • 01

    Requests and approvals

One queue, beside the repository your team owns.

  • 02

    Owned tasks

Every task has one owner and a date.

  • 03

    Weekly review

Each decision recorded, with the expectation attached.

This store's move to a new platform did not start with a build. It started with a list. We mapped every product, order, customer record and ranking page, and set the search and ad plans side by side. Only then did anything move. Understand, then rank, then build: this consulting service follows the same order. Revenue grew 340% in seven months once the plan was built.

Choosing the service

Which advice you need,
for the decision in front of you.

You can buy platform advice, a technical audit, a conversion review or a second opinion together or on their own. Each ends in written findings you keep. This table shows which one fits, and when to skip consulting altogether.

Questions

Frequently
asked.

It includes three things, bought together or on their own. You can get help choosing a platform, an audit of your current store and checkout, and a written plan in order of priority. You get the findings in writing and keep them, whether or not you build with us afterwards.

No. The audit, platform advice or plan is yours to keep and give to any team, ours or another. Most clients who start with consulting do stay with us for the build, because we already know the store. But it is never a condition.

It depends on your products, team and margins, which our platform review looks at. As a starting point, Shopify suits most brands selling direct that want to launch fast. WooCommerce fits teams already invested in WordPress. Magento is worth its complexity for very large catalogues and B2B selling. Headless (your own front end on a commerce engine) makes sense when the shop itself sets you apart.

It covers platform version, old code that needs fixing and page speed. We measure speed with Core Web Vitals, Google's checks of loading and responsiveness. It checks your links to payments, ERP, shipping and analytics, and site problems that hurt search. You get specific findings tied to specific fixes, ranked by what they cost you, not a generic score.

No, though the two overlap. CRO means conversion rate optimisation: getting more visitors to buy. This review finds where your checkout and key pages lose orders and roughly what a fix is worth. Our conversion optimisation service then runs the ongoing tests, once you know they are worth paying for. Many clients use this review to decide that first.

It depends on what you need. A platform review costs less than a full technical and conversion audit with a written plan. We scope and price every piece of work before it starts, and you get the findings in writing.
